After 10 years of working in UK industry at UNiSYS and ICL/Fujitsu, specialising in compilers and software tools for parallel and distributed systems, I moved to Swiss academia where I headed the Software Engineering Group at the Swiss Center for Scientific Computing before returning to the UK to work at STFC on Grid Computing as the Service Manager for the UK eScience Certification Authority.

Stuart Barr (DAFNI co-investigator) is a Senior Lecturer in Geographic Information Systems at Newcastle University. His research interests include computational urban systems and urban earth observation, multisource remote sensing, and spatial, structural and statistical pattern recogniton for integrated GIS/EO analysis.
